If you have high chosterol, high blood pressure, coronary artery disease, and/or peripheral vascular disease, it is a great idea to increase intake of fruits and vegetables and food containing fiber. Consume mostly LEAN proteins (chicken breasts, lean fish, low fat dairy products, etc.). The major goal should be decreasing fats and cholesterol as well as consuming foods high in antioxidants. Do not eat fried foods; instead consider baking your foods. Try and eat fish at least twice a week to help increase your weakly omega-3 fatty acids which have been shown to be beneficial in reducing the effects of coronary artery disease. If you do have high blood pressure even a low salt diet may help.
